Dear Friend of The Mendelssohn Project,

As the year draws to a close, we wish to take a moment to thank you for your past patronage. Your generosity has allowed us to continue our mission: to give the world a complete overview of the music and life stories of Felix Mendelssohn and Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel. We would like to share with you what The Mendelssohn Project has in store for 2011. Our initiatives include:

Concerts in Schools - Bringing music and history alive with young performers. Narrative will be provided by TMP's Artistic Director, Stephen Somary.

Scholarship - Dedicating a portion of all donations received in 2011 to be awarded in 2012 to a student selected by our Board of Directors. This is part of our expanding commitment to young artists.

Musical Partnership - Furthering TMP's goal of making the hundreds of lost works available to the public by seeking an extensive collaboration with an established performing organization.

13-Part Radio Series - Producing a radio series on the unpublished music and untold story of Felix and Fanny Mendelssohn. On invitation from the WFMT Radio Network in Chicago, the program will be written and hosted by Stephen Somary.

Salon Concerts - Continuing TMP's popular series of fundraising events combined with chamber music concerts in beautiful New York City homes. People interested in hosting such an event should please contact us.

Consulate Concerts - Acting on their invitation, we will be giving Salon Concerts at the German Consulates in New York and Los Angeles. We hope to expand this program to Consulates and Embassies around the world.

Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel - Featuring little-known works of Felix's older sister in a public concert in New York.

Free Music to the Public - Distributing a limited release of unpublished Mendelssohn scores, edited exclusively by TMP, to be made available to schools, libraries, and other non-profit organizations.

Infrastructure Upgrade - Modernizing our computers, software, and phones.

We Ask for your Support - Accomplishing the goals set forth above means that we need to ask for your continued patronage for our fully tax-deductible 501(c)(3) organization. For your convenience, our website has now been updated to accept donations electronically. If you would prefer to make your donation directly, we welcome your call at 212 799-0517. On a personal note, for those of you whom I haven't yet met, I am looking forward to doing so in the coming year. My first few months working with The Mendelssohn Project as its Executive Director have been filled with excitement and promise. I feel fortunate to have joined such a visionary organization. If you would like to contact me, you may do so by phone, or by email at: h.atkinson@themendelssohnproject.org.

Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving!

With kind regards,

Hallie Atkinson (Executive Director)
Stephen Somary (Artistic Director)
